Volkswagen will draw news coverage, daily it seems. First, there's the TFP's report on that VW building is definitely ontrack. And, there's word of new academic research fellowships being set-up with VW backing at Oak Ridge National Labs. Say the release, "Examples of research projects interns would be assigned to include low-cost carbon fiber, battery storage, biofuels, engines and emissions, intelligent transportation systems, and sustainable manufacturing."

In addition, in the related ThrottleUp 2009 event, TrakLok™ Corporation won the business plan pitch competition for seed and early stage companies. TrakLok helps companies globally track intermodal shipping containers.

Page new chief at ORAU, ORNL opens lab

Oak Ridge Associated Universities announced a new presidential appointment from inside, with the nod going to D.C.-based VP Andy Page. Meanwhile, the KNS also reports ORNL, itself, broke ground on a new "shovel-ready" chemistry lab, thanks to Stim funding.
