TN needs visionaries
All the patents in the world won't create jobs if they aren't investable and transformed into goods and services through commercialization - that seems to be the message from Friday's panel of ORNL, VU and other experts. TN has some catching-up to do with respect to its population of serial entrepreneurs and visionary leaders, too. Read about it here.

Recruiters set-off from Human Capital Group
Exec-search pro's Dan Ryan and Rick Kloete have each left Human Capital Group to form their own search firms. Dan's particularly interested in the life-sciences area. All three are now based in Franklin. More on that, here.

M&A 'guru' to Memphis
The Carter Group, the Mobile-based executive search and management consulting group, announced that Brian Lee, a former CEO of New York Life Investments and the former president of Deutsche Bank private banking is now a partner in Carter and opening a Carter office in his hometown of Memphis. The release is here. As of today, The Carter Group's minimalist website begs the visitor's patience. Another site reveals that Lee is a master guitarist, perhaps an evangelist, definitely a Mensa, and apparently a founder of Grace Business Advisers.
