Luminetx up, Medtronic down
[Updated 4:58 p.m.] The tone and the facts in a release issued this morning from Memphis-based Luminetx -- the creator and marketer of VeinViewer, the vascular-imaging technology -- suggest a level of confidence the company hasn't exuded in some time. Luminetx management says it has sold 1,200 VeinViewers and has distribution either inplace or in-the-works in about 50 nations outside the U.S. The release is here. In contrast to the bullish atmosphere at Luminetx, Medtronic reported today it's laying-off 56 workers in Memphis, where it's had about 1,600...all part of a corporatewide slimdown. The MDN reports.
