TVA will purchase all power produced by a planned solar farm in Haywood County. There, Gov. Phil Bredesen plans to use $63 million of federal stimulus money to put up 20 acres of solar collectors, to produce 5 megawatts of energy. That’s enough to power roughly 1,500 homes. TVA CEO Tom Kilgore says the utility will pay a premium for the power to test the viability of a larger project. Meanwhile, the TFP reports TVA is undertaking an 18-month study of how it should produce and distribute power in the future.
