Knoxville woos 'Creative Class'

"Tennessee's Other Music Capital" is Knoxville, according to a press release last week. The release, crafted by Innovation Valley, doesn't mention Nashville, explicitly. And, Innovate Knoxville provides an interesting calendar of Knoxville venture and entrepreneurial events. The KNS reports it. The calendar was introduced during Knoxville's Entrepreneurial Imperative conference, last week. The Development Corporation of Knox County was one of the hosts. The Innovation Valley Tech Council also played a role.

Innovation Valley strategy

Knoxville-Oak Ridge Innovation Valley yesterday unveiled a plan to focus on recruiting companies and nourishing existing firms in four specific industries: instrumentation, nuclear energy, bioenergy and energy-related materials. The KNS reports.

SAIC-Hearts-Innovation Valley

The Oak Ridge-Knoxville Innovation Valley has reason to rejoice, with SAIC (NYSE:SAI) announcing it is consolidating some of its San Diego and McLean operations into its East Tennessee presence. That'll bring SAIC's instate employment to 800 or more. SAIC stock at midday seemed to be trading near its 52-week high, a breath of fresh air.
