Digital Music Summit postponed

Leadership Music's annual DigitalSummit, we just noticed, has just been postponed from Monday-Tuesday, March 22-23, to sometime in September 2010. The move may be a result of the recent resignation of longtime LM Executive Director Kira Florita, who continues to consult to LM. Florita resigned in January, after five years' service.

Leadership Music seeks Leader

Leadership Music has announced it has launched a search for a new chief staff director for the nonprofit, in the wake of Executive Director Kira Florita's (left) announcement she's leaving Jan. 18. The details are here.

TN technology movers

Nashville-based Landmark Digital, a sub of BMI, was named Innovator of the Year for its audio-recognition technology (purchased from Shazam in 2005) during the Nashville Music Awards, Oct. 7... HealthIT Insight, a media outlet and conference organizer, named Nashville-based Informatics Corporation of America's (ICA) IT for integrating hospital and clinical systems "Best New Technology," placing it among Intel and VMWare, which won in market-potential and ROI categories, respectively... Healthcare Management Systems (HMS) said in a release Wednesday it'll launch a proprietary ambulatory electronic medical record and practice management solution called HMS Ambulatory EMR, later this month. HMS says it will apply for federal certifications that would help customers qualify for ARRA Hightech funds for puchasing the systems.

Leadership Music update

Leadership Music announced today Pat Collins (left), who is president and COO of SESAC, the recording rights and royalties organization, has become LM's president. President-elect is Jamie Cheek, manager/partner of Flood, Bumstead, McCready & McCarthy. Treasurer is Tim Wipperman, Wipperman Music Group; Secretary is Beverly Keel, former newspaper entertainment journalist and MTSU professor of recording industry. NAMMYs return at Next Big Nashville

Leadership Music and Next Big Nashville announced they're reviving the Nashville Music Awards, once called the NAMMYs, I believe. Hey, it's where I first saw Webb Wilder, as I recall. Deadline for nominations is July 15. Awards will be Oct. 7th, during NBN09.
