More than half Oak Ridge National Laboratory's scientific and technical staff are thought to be foreign nationals. That and visiting foreign scientists complicate life for both ORNL security enforcers and for the guestworkers, themselves. Veil still shrouds ORNL-NSA ties

Updating his report of about a week ago, KNS Columnist Frank Munger tries again to peal-back the tarp from Oak Ridge National Lab's increased supercomputing and math work for the National Security Agency. Based on our own sojourn in NSA-linked intelligence, I'd say we won't be learning more, for at least 25 years.

ORNL mum about NSA ties

Well, the Congressional delegation says Oak Ridge NL got $8MM to help the National Security Agency, but other than signals that the work is supercomputing- and algorithm-related, we'll not be hearing more, anytime soon. Frank Munger relays it.
