Aegis Sciences, the drug-abuse and -efficacy forensic testing service, is suing California-based Millennium Laboratories, alleging unfair competitive practices including offering inducements to physicians. The NBJ reports. An earlier VNC story on Aegis.

Solvay lawsuit proceeds benefit VU, Meharry research

Lieff Cabraser, the class-action litigation firm, announced that Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Meharry College will each get just over $1MM from a settlement related to marketing practices by Solvay Pharmaceuticals. The release is here.

TN joins NY's AMGEN lawsuit

Tennessee has joined New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's (left) lawsuit against AMGEN, alleging a "nationwide kickback scheme" to spur drug sales of Aranesp by fraudulent billing of Medicaid, others. Eastate Facebook trouble

Apart from all the good that comes with it, Facebook has been at the center of at least two eruptions of badwill in E.TN.: A week ago, the Chattanooga Chamber's lobbyist was compelled to resign, after he apparently posted anti-Muslim comments on a Facebook page... Now, comes word of litigation between a Knoxville pizza purveyor and his marketing agency, with Facebook again at the center of the conflict.

Class action: Psych Solutions

Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins LLP today announced that a class action has been commenced on behalf of an institutional investor in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee on behalf of purchasers of Psychiatric Solutions, Inc.

EPB bests Cable

EPB, the Chattanooga-based utility that's building a regional broadband business, won another point over Tennessee Cable Telecommunications Association, when the Tennessee Court of Appeals agreed with a lower-court judge that TCTA couldn't sue EPB in Davidson County. The TFP reports.
