Vanderbilt Health Information Privacy Lab director honored

VU HIPL Director Bradley Malin (Steelers fan) was named among 85 researchers honored with a with a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. He's an assistant professor of biomedical informatics in the School of Medicine at VU. The White House release.

Kroll pushes hard on healthcare ID theft

Nashville-based Kroll Inc. began a month ago promoting its anti-fraud services a month or more ago, after the FTC delayed until August enforcement of Red Flag Rules related to ID theft. Today, Kroll issued a release touting its new "enhanced data breach preparedness program," targeting healthcare providers. The package contains risk-assessment tools, training, incident response and legislative and regulatory updates.
