Passport Health Communications accreditation

Passport Health Communications announced today it has achieved full accreditation with the Health Information Exchange Accreditation Program (HIEAP) from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). EHNAC’s HIEAP accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions, and ensures compliance with industry-established standards and HIPAA regulations. MedSolutions names CMO

Franklin-based MedSolutions, a provider of medical cost-management services, with emphasis on imaging and diagnostic error prevention, announced it has named Alan Henry, M.D. (left) its chief medical officer for the company's Premerus Diagnostic Accuracy program. He is a principle in 2-View, LLC, a medical device company, and founded Opus Clinical Research, a contract research organization. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he earned his MBA from Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business and his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He is a former president and board member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, a member of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American College of Radiology's stereotactic breast biopsy credentialing committee. He has served as president of Breast Care Specialists of Virginia since 1996. Earlier in his medical career, he developed the Carilion Breast Care Center in Roanoke, Va..

Emdeon's Lazenby says fraud is target

Tennessean reporter Getahn Ward interviewed Emdeon CEO George Lazenby, who says that his company automates claims payments for the majority of payers in the U.S., and that there is $30BN to be saved in the healthcare delivery system by automating transactions in order to reduce fraud. ORNL could tackle healthcare fraud, waste

Oak Ridge National Laboratory supercomputing capacity could be directed toward identifying fraud and waste by continually analyzing Federal claims and payment data for services for Medicare, Medicaid and other programs, according to ORNL researcher Andrew Loebl. Passport Health CFO named

Passport Health Communications CEO Scott MacKenzie announced today the company has named David Whitt (left) its chief financial officer. Whitt was previously CFO-Treasurer at Cavalier Telephone Corp. in Richmond. Prior to Cavalier, Whitt, a CPA, worked with KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Chattanooga-based Orthobanc LLC announced yesterday it has acquired another software company, Acceptx Financial Services, Inc., and its patient-case acceptance software for medical and orthodontic practices. Acceptx is based in Bountiful, Utah. Acceptx's main offerings were built around the ZACC credit-analysis tool owned by consultant Paul Zuelke, of Portland, Ore. nTelagent raise

nTelagent, a revenue-cycle management player, filed with the SEC, reporting it has raised less than a million, according to NashvillePost.com, to cover growth-related expenses, having resorted to equity markets because credit is so tight.
