'Memphis' seeks Angels for Broadway
The Commercial Appeal reports that about 70 Memphis-area investors were convened Sunday by Orpheum Theatre President Pat Halloran, as part of an effort to raise up to $14 million to ensure a proper Broadway debut for a new play, "Memphis." Reminds us of all those musical comedies, in which a dynamite new production is about to drop dead, until a true Angel appears from the wings. Halloran is also angling to have Memphis be the debut for the 'Memphis' road tour. Photo: Kevin Berne for the CA.
